Mini Vinnies

The Mini Vinnies are quite literally mini St Vincent de Paul's.
The Society of St Vincent de Paul has been engaging with young people and education since its earliest days. Mini Vinnies are children in Year 2 who meet once a week to reflect on the Gospel and pray together. They think of ways to help others in school, in the locality and in the wider world through fundraising. The Mini Vinnies have their own 'treasured' Prayer, Pledge and Badge. It is an important way of developing the children’s faith and sense of mission as Christians, as well as an awareness of social justice. All children in Year 2 are given the opportunity to be a Mini Vinnie during the year.

Our Mini Vinnies for the Autumn Term 2025-26
Our Mini Vinnies have been very busy this half term. They have helped raise donations for Brent Food bank and for McMillan Cancer charity. They also helped to raise the profile of Fairtrade and the importance of standing with people in solidarity.

Autumn 2 Mini Vinnies

The Mini Vinnies were proud to take part in the Catholic Children’s Society Advent Carol Service, helping to celebrate the true meaning of Advent. It was a joyful occasion that reminded everyone of the importance of caring for others during this special season, made even more special by the opportunity to meet Bishop Paul, which the children found inspiring and memorable.

The Mini Vinnies spread Christmas cheer by making thoughtful Christmas cards for people in hospital, sharing messages of hope and kindness. These handmade cards were sent to Northwick Park Hospital, bringing smiles and comfort to patients during the festive season.
Spring 1/2 Mini Vinnies

The Mini Vinnies were commissioned by FR Michael at the Parish Mass.

This lent the Mini Vinnies are taking part in the SVP Heart to Heart.
This year’s SVP Heart to Heart Lent campaign focuses on loneliness, a hidden issue that affects people of all ages, even in busy schools and communities. The message is simple and powerful: reach out and have a conversation.
Inspired by St Pier Giorgio Frassati, an SVP member who believed in friendship and lifting others verso l’alto (“to the heights”), the campaign shows how caring for others helps us grow too.
Summer 1
During Bespirit Week our Mini Vinnies were proudly commissioned by Fr Michael in a special celebration. The children made a promise to follow in the footsteps of St Vincent de Paul by helping others showing kindness and living out their faith through action. It was a joyful occasion that reminded us all of the importance of serving our school parish and wider community with love and compassion.
The Mini Vinnies also played an important role in helping to run the OLOG Feast Day celebrations. They supported activities throughout the day and helped to create a welcoming and joyful atmosphere for everyone in our school community. As part of their mission to help others they also worked hard to support Mary’s Meals by encouraging donations and raising awareness of the important work the charity does to provide meals for children around the world.
